Help Center - (615) 889-2275

Each week we provide food and clothing for those in need. Our Help Center is located directly across the street on Knobview Drive and is open Tuesdays from 9 AM – 12 PM & Wednesdays from 5 PM – 7 PM.

United For Hope & McGavock Elementary

DCC adopted McGavock Elementary School in 2011 under the umbrella of The PENCIL Foundation; however, in the Fall of 2022, United for Hope (U4H) assumed oversight for partnerships of churches with the public schools. Each school year, we kick off the beginning of school with Backpack Sunday! Backpacks and school supplies, gifted by our members, are placed at the front of the auditorium on this day, and members are reminded of other ways in which we can serve the school throughout the year. The supplies are delivered to the school on the following day. We provide encouragement and supplies for teachers and students throughout the rest of the school year, providing breakfast for the first day of school for the teachers. We honor them with a luncheon during Teacher Appreciation Week in the Spring, with special recognition of the Teacher of the Year. We have provided tutors for students needing the one-on-one assistance, and we provide proctors for the Spring TCAP testing.

Each Wednesday night during the school year, DCC serves dinner to those in our community. Many from McGavock come, and while the parents needing to learn English attend the ESL classes, the children attend Bible classes with other children their age. Approximately 90% of the students at McGavock are on free/reduced lunch and come from over 20 countries. Selected students are given a weekend food bag on Friday afternoons, and DCC helps to fill those bags.

Community Dinners & ESL (English as a Second Language)

We offer a free meal every Wednesday night from 5:30 pm-6:15 pm in the gym. Anyone in the community is welcome. Also, on Wednesday nights (during the school year) from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm we offer ESL classes for adults wishing to learn English. Children of adults learning English attend our Wednesday night Bible classes. This program follows the Davidson County Metro School’s calendar
